Over one year ago we found an astonishingly fresh, young and illusioned band, crafting the most wonderful guitar pop from Granada, perfectly mixing the vocal harmonies with powerful guitars and smart keyboard arrangements. We didn’t wait too long to release their debut: a CD-Single, “Nidea”, and a white vinyl single, “Si No Lo Ves”, both almost sold out by now, which were used as an excellent introduction card for the band both in Spain (where they played the third edition of the Benicàssim Festival and supported the BMX BANDITS and THE POSIES) and abroad, and prepared the path for what is their awesome debut LP, produced by Ken Stringfellow (THE POSIES, BIG STAR) and mastered in Seattle, due to be released by the end of March.
After the excellent response their double debut got outside Spain, they had the chance to record a cover version of THE BEATLES for the tribute compilation done by Swedish label Tribute Records (which has featured other Elefant bands on their tributes to THE CARDIGANS and OASIS), but we didn’t want this present to be out of reach of their increasing number of fans in Spain, and also for the coolest people who still buy vinyl, of course. So we decided to release this cover in a special record for the members of our Singles Club, along with a new song recorded by the band before they joined Ken Stringfellow to record the album.
“A Day In The Life”, good taste choosing the cover, has perfectly adapted the original to the more American sound of CECILIA ANN, and gives new charm to this exceptional song. “Y Tú Qué Haces”, the A-side and the title of the record, is a clear sample of how is a live act of the band: powerful and vitaminic. It starts out with a keyboard riff until the drums, and afterwards the rest of the instruments, join in forming a great melodic rock tune with splendid backing vocals and their trademark melody, catchy and consistent, like those of bands as the VELVET CRUSH. A very good record full of promises before the arrival of their debut LP.
