I haven’t much to talk about, I haven’t got a problem There’s nobody I want to see and I’m not thinking of them Time on my hands to wonder what we’re doing this for So me and you divide in two or something, well, whatever, I don’t know I’ve come across some things that I’m no better off for knowing Some parts of me are thinning out and some are growing bigger Not liking this has never put me off it before Just as it hits it starts to slip and fades away to leave me wanting more

about

London-based UNION WIRELESS have re-emerged to follow up last year’s well-received “Saturn Ascension Experiments” album with a new four-track EP, “Mid Tonal Tracking”.
This new EP shows the band moving away from the guitar-dominated repetition of their album to incorporate a greater range of instruments and influences into their songs. This is reflected in the group’s fluid personnel, where the nucleus of Gonzalo Viña (guitars, bass) and Ben Morris (bass, vocals, organ, clarinet) have been joined by Steve Gillard (viola, cello), Andrew J. Pyne (drums) and Matthew Morris (piano) for this superb recording.

The result is a more mellow, layered sound, where familiar repetitive grooves are embellished with strings, clarinets, vocal chants and wayward guitars. This is particularly marked on the re-recorded version of the album track “Now Times Re-Styling”, where jagged guitar gives way to a meandering stream of clarinet and viola. Another proove of the unbounded possibilities and constant experimentation of UNION WIRELESS.

The group are currently busy writing their awaited next album, which will be recorded over the summer and released in the new year. They will emerge to play a handful of shows in Europe in June, including a few London dates. Make sure you don’t miss them when they play near your hometown.
