These majorcans became quite known with the three songs included in the compilation “La única alternativa”. They were called Dirty Boots but since that suggested mistaken relationships with Sonic Youth, they decided to change their name to The Frankenbooties, same they gave to their debut 7” and to the long tour that took them to almost our whole geography (“Frankenbootie Tour”).
After being included in the above mentioned compilation, Elefant Records followed their tracks and decided to release what would be their first record, “Frankenbootie Ep”. It was an alienated mixture including as much of Beatles as of Seam. Angry melodies dyed of phosphorescent apathy.
“Gobbledegook” is the album we introduce to you: Songs to make stand out? All of them. No kidding. ”Poison Girl” gets the Byrds and Sebadoh to vanish into the same dream. “Why soul is so heavy” exudes naif charm and catchy melodies. Pixies would love to have been in “My little hurricane”...Experimentation + irony + noise + poisoning lyrics (“Kill John Wayne”) + sweet disillusion = “Gobbledegook”. They’ve got the ability to get into any musical coordinates they choose (they’re like Blur, creatively speaking) and they always get their target.
No doubt this album is going to touch on you. These guys have got a sound shaker disposed to remove their fine imagination with just one target: to give birth to one of the best albums of 1994. They’ve got it!
