Since the first glance at the cover, a dirty, ragged cloth (one of those you use to wipe the dust), you are warned about the contents you are about to find in this precious, transparent vinyl: shattered textures, coarsened just to please a mischievous, imposingly intelligent mind. BEEF, we won’t stop telling this, are one of the best bands around, and every now and then they take advantage of the minimum chance they find to remind us of it. As, for example, with this fantastic single, exclusive for the fortunate members of our Singles Club.

On the A side, “Bored Song” is a new version of the song previously appeared on the “Elefant Radio” compilation: faithful to their restless character, always in constant evolution, they render this song from a much noisier perspective, instead of the almost ethnical minimalism of the former one (say, more rock and less kraut).

On the flip side, “Take It For Granted” is a cover version of a song by... CARMEL!! (Now you can understand why they called one of their latest releases as “adult oriented”). Nevertheless, they are more respectful than we could expect, and come up with a relaxed version, somehow following the intimate, almost decadent style of the TINDERSTICKS, with encircling keyboards and lazy guitars.

“Au Free”, the last song, is an amusement: but you know that an amusement is for a genius one of their best masterpieces. Anyway, it’s a wonderful song recorded by David Rodríguez alone last summer. Very rhythmical, as it’s already usual with BEEF, and with a sarcastic lyric about sex and summer festivals. The music looks like sort of QUICKSPACE/STEREOLAB, based on very few chords and with a melody which revolves around just a few notes. Superb, as usual.
