Not long ago, SILVANIA published their first work (the “Miel Nube Hiel” maxi) in the small label from Valencia Experience Records.
Since then, their career has improved in a geometrical progression, as well as their talent. Like if they were clairvoyants, Mario and Cocó have been able to guess the future of the music and they’ve showed it to us in two Lp’s (“En Cielo de Océano” and “Paisaje III”), in which their evolution is more than obvious.
Maybe we´re not the proper ones to talk about their music’s quality, but what can give us a clue is that their songs have been published in half-Europe fanzines’ compilations, that their albums have been enthusiastically reviewed in magazines like Melody Maker (UK) or Magic! (France) and that they’ve been aired in radio stations from all over the world. They’ve been constantly playing gigs (though in a sporadic way, due to the complicated stage facilities they need) in any venue with a minimum sense of risk and in Festivals like the BAM or Benicàssim, and they have supported recently STEREOLAB and MOONSHAKE.
Considering all these facts, we may come to think that there’s been an opening in an audience that wasn’t sympathetic to them in the short past. Maybe it is because more than recreating songs, SILVANIA convincingly create ambients, they try to take the listeners into the world they have willingly given birth to.
Their new single comes as a further proof of this, and upon my word they’re getting it. SEEFEEL, AUTECHRE, SCORN, SCANNER, LOCUST... have offered themselves to remix their songs for an album soon to come. The pupils have levelled with the “teachers”. From now on, everything they do will help us to build a path going directly to heaven.
